Teamfight Tactics: What it is and What you Need to Know!
Teamfight tactics (or TFT for short) is a round-based strategy game, every game has 8 players in it and each and everyone of them is fighting everyone else for the win. Its every man for himself! and every player’s goal is to be the last man standing.
Now that i know what it is, how does it work? and how do i win?
at the beginning of every game, you will be thrown into the “carousel”, which is a stage of the game in which all the players participating are thrown into a shared draft of random champions each carrying a random item(well get to what those are in a second) in there, your goal is to take the champion/item that you want before anyone else does!
each champion has specific stats that determine how much damage they deal, how fast they deal it and how much damage they can take. additionally each champion has two or 3 traits, and by having a number of champions with same traits on the board, they gain a bonus, and every trait has its own bonus that suit the champions that have it. champions also have a gold cost and in general champions that cost more gold have better stats and abilities. and abilities are special effects that each champion in TFT has, all abilities have a unique effect, it can damage other champions, provide de-buffs to enemy units or buff allied units. remember that synergies only count towards champions on the board and champions on your bench do not affect the champions you have on your board in any way.
at the start of each round or by spending 2 gold for a reroll you can buy any of 5 champions presented to you probably in a way to level up your existing champions or to create synergies with other champions.
you can also combine 3 of the same champion to create a stronger unit with better stats all across the board, a two star champion, combining 3 two stars of the same champion (9 of the same champion in total) you get a very powerful tier 3 champion that can be a deciding factor of weather you win or lose your game!
the number of champions you can have at any given moment is equal to your level, and in order to level up you need EXP points which you can gain by buying them with gold or surviving a round!
item are dropped in creep rounds (more on that next) , items give the champion that wields them more of a specific stat (attack speed, attack damage, ability damage, health EXT..).additionally you can combine two basic items into a completed item, completed items add to the champion that wields them the stats of the basic items used to make them and a unique effect! (you can see in detail what stats and effects each item gives by clicking here!)
ROUNDS AND GOLD :
before each round you must position your units in a way that you think is beneficial for your team and add champions in and take champions out. but as soon as the round starts you lose control of your units you can only add items to them during this stage and after every round you receive 2 EXP points and a set amount of gold depending on your win/loss streak and how much gold you already have.and, if you lost the round you will take damage depending on how many enemy units are left on the board and the level of your opponent.
rounds can be divided into two categories P.V.E rounds (creep rounds) and P.V.P rounds:
P.V.E rounds are rounds that show up at the start of each game in which you will have to go through 3 of them in a row, after that every 6th round, the first creep rounds are relatively easy but the later you go in the game the stronger the creeps become and the strong you’ll have to be in order to win them. after winning a creep rounds, you have a chance to get at least one item or gold bonus!
PVP rounds are rounds in which you will get matched up against other players, winning or losing these rounds bot have advantages or disadvantages, that means sometimes it might be better for you to lose a round rather than win it.
the advantages of losing are as follows : consecutive loses, will result in a loss streak, additionally being lower HP than your opponents gives you the opportunity to pick before them on carousel rounds , which appear before every fourth round after first 3 creep rounds.
but be careful, dropping below zero will result in your demise!
winning a game has the benefit of taking no damage and dealing damage to your opponent and subsequent wins will result in a win streak which grants the exact same amount of gold as a loss streak and granting you more gold to become even stronger! but the downside is that being at higher HP than your opponents makes it so that you pick after them at carousel rounds.
and that’s it! you have the basics, go out there and try out the game for yourself, FUN is guaranteed
